Full name is Wayne Hamilton Black... Father, Don, who passed away in Oct. 2000, introduced him to the game and built four grass courts in family's backyard avocado farm... Older brother Byron retired in 2002 after a successful 12-year career... Younger sister, Cara, finished as No. 1 junior in world in 1997, and won her first WTA singles title in 2002... Attended Newcombe Tennis Academy in New Braunfels, Texas, in 1991... Played three seasons at University of Southern California and earned singles and doubles All-America honors in 1993-94... Advanced to NCAA Championships singles final in May 1994, losing to Florida's Mark Merklein in three sets... A member of Zimbabwe's Davis Cup team since 1992 and has a 46-29 career record (27-21 in singles) in 28 ties… Coached by former ATP pro Miles MacLagan.

2004 -- Teamed with countryman Kevin Ullyett to finish in Top 10 in ATP Doubles Race for fifth consecutive year, compiling a 43-21 match record and two titles …Qualified for Tennis Masters Cup and reached final (l. to Bryans) after going 2-1 in round robin play...Ended season at No. 4 for their second career Top 5 finish…In first month of season reached QF at Australian Open…In March, reached final at Masters Series Indian Wells (l. to Clement-Grosjean) and followed with title in Miami (d. Bjorkman-Woodbridge)…Also won AMS title in Hamburg (d. 2002 -- Won six of seven finals with countryman Kevin Ullyett... No. 6 on ATP Team Race...Claimed titles in Adelaide and San Jose...Best clay result came at TMS Roma where he reached final...In June, picked up title at Queen's Club...Best stretch came from August until end of season as he compiled a 29-6 record, winning titles in Washington, Lyon and Stockholm...Finished No. 13 in doubles...Captured his first mixed doubles title at Roland Garros (w/sister Cara)…Went 6-1 in Davis Cup play.

2001 -- Won three titles for second time in three years, including his first Grand Slam title at US Open...In singles, best result was 3rd RD at Wimbledon (l. to Enqvist)...Teamed with countryman Kevin Ullyett to play in 22 tournaments, won two titles (Copenhagen, US Open) and posted a 32-20 match record, finishing No. 5 in ATP Doubles Race...Opened season with title in Chennai (w/brother Byron) and it was first time they won an ATP title together...Ranked No. 12 in doubles.

2000 -- His best singles result was QF in Tokyo, won doubles title in Hong Kong (w/Ullyett) and reached first Grand Slam final at Australian Open (w/Kratzmann).

1999 -- In doubles won three titles in five finals...Singles play highlighted by 4th RD at Australian Open (l. to T. Martin) ...Biggest moment came in Davis Cup with four-set win over Chile's Rios to advance Zimbabwe to 2000 World Group...Earned a career-high $489,677.

1998 -- Reached SF in Ostrava as a qualifier and first doubles final in St. Poelten (w/Adams)...Helped Zimbabwe stun Australia for country's first Davis Cup World Group win.

1997 -- Advanced to first ATP SF in Moscow and compiled 23-6 Challenger record with three titles in four finals...Won two Challenger doubles titles and SF at Wimbledon and US Open (w/Grabb).

1996 -- Advanced to QF in four Challengers and doubles SF in two ATP stops

1995 -- Reached first Challenger final in Azores (l. to Marques) Won two doubles titles.

1994 -- Ranked No. 507, posted his first career tour victory over No. 44 Brad Gilbert in New Haven en route to RD 16...Also reached doubles QF (w/Byron).
